If you roll doubles three times, that third time, you go to jail. First let me explain the various ways to land yourself in jail. Also, If you pass "Go" on your way to making it to jail (the game actually moves you spaces, not just teleport you), you do not collect any rewards.
But if you actually go to jail through a game command, then things get complicated. If you simply roll your die and it leads you to the jail, then you are fine, you go into the "just visiting" area and you treat it like any other square. There is also a spot marked "Jail" on the board.
You will have to do whatever is written on the card, and then it will be returned to the bottom of the deck. If you land on a spot marked "Chance" or "Community Chest", take the top card off of the corresponding deck of the space that you landed on. If they have upgraded their building by having 2 or more of the same colour, then they will be able to charge you higher rent.

If you land on a property you own, it is a safe and free spot, but if you land on a property someone else owns, then you have to pay rent for that property. Also, you do not have to buy a property, nor do you have to bid for it, it is your choice. If you choose to bid for it, the highest bidder gets the property, so you have to strategically offer the highest amount out of all those playing. If you choose to buy it, you give a hefty sum of money and the property is yours. If you roll a double, you move that many spaces, and then you get to throw your pair of dice again.Įach time you land on a property tile, you have the option to buy it, or depending on the rules, bid for it. You throw a pair of dice so you can never move 1 square space, it always has to be 2 (if you roll two 1s) or more. If you are tied for the highest number, then the first person to roll the highest goes first, and the second to do it goes second. The highest number rolled will play first.
The order of who goes first and how you move is decided by 2 dice. On that board, you can have up to 6 players, or as low as 2. Monopoly is a game that is played on a board. Properties are worth M, and you will see at the bottom how much worth you are giving to someone in the trade window. There is no trade balancing, but you have to offer at least M1 to be allowed to trade with the other player. In this game, you can trade someone M1, and they can give you all of the properties if they wanted (we will be using this to our advantage in this walkthrough). Monopoly Money is used for trading, buying and bidding for properties, and paying to get out of jail. So if I write something like, "M50" I mean 50 Monopoly dollars. Monopoly Money will be symbolised not by $ or £ but instead by M in this game. This won't be an explanation of all the game rules, but these are some of the rules that you will encounter in your playthrough, so I thought it would be good to tell you a little about them in case you have never played Monopoly before. Now before we start, let me explain a little bit about Monopoly.

Also, you will only be able to upgrade your properties after you have rolled your die and landed on a spot. We will just be buying the property and keeping it at minimum rent until we are ready to end the game. Because of this, and other troubles you might run into, we are not going to upgrade any of our properties until the very end. It only gets tricky if you land on income tax or draw a chance card that makes you pay money, as that is when the money gets taken out of player hands and is put back into the board. Don't worry, they are giving you back the money anyways. Have the poor character give you M1, and another character give them whatever amount of money is required for the rent. If they cannot pay rent, initiate trade with the poor character and your main profile. If for some reason, a player runs out of money prematurely, make sure not to bankrupt them. Plus there are achievements for making certain trades. By balancing out the properties, you make it very hard for anyone to go bankrupt. We will be buying properties through auction, and choosing to back out with all other characters (they will be labelled Player 1 - 6) and only doing a M1 bid with the one character. Also, we will be playing by ourselves (or with a helpful partner(s) sitting beside you), and using the same controller for all six in game characters (yes, we are choosing to play with 6, instead of 2).
